Mark 11:1-11 (Palm Sunday)

Mark 11:1-11 gives us a simple narrative of Jesus's entry into Jerusalem prior to his crucifixion and resurrection. But the details reveal a lot about Jesus, his plans, and his purposes. In this passage, we find Jesus's providence, messianic fulfillments, and judgment on display. Is he the King we expect or do our expectations need transformation? Jesus challenges our expectations and our very lives with his arrival as King. We must respond accordingly to the King on his terms.

  1. We must acknowledge Jesus’s sovereign providence (1-6).
  2. We must treasure Jesus’s messianic fulfillments (7-10).
  3. We must fear Jesus’s patient judgment (11).
