Luke 6:12-26

In Luke 6:12–26, we see how Jesus establishes the future of His church by raising up faithful apostles. He spends the night in prayer before selecting the Twelve, showing His dependence on the Father and the weight of choosing men who would lay the church’s foundation. He then brings them alongside Him, modeling compassionate, servant-hearted ministry as He heals the crowds and demonstrates what true greatness looks like in God’s kingdom. Finally, He teaches them that blessing is not defined by wealth, comfort, or public approval, but by a life anchored in eternal reward—even if it involves poverty, hunger, or persecution. This passage calls us to value what Christ values and to prayerfully cultivate leaders who embrace the priorities of His kingdom.

  1. Jesus prayerfully selected leaders. (12-16)
  2. Jesus intentionally mentored leaders. (17-19)
  3. Jesus carefully taught leaders. (20-26)
